I first heard Mama's Boys when I saw the video of "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" on MTV in 1984 at 3 in the morning. I knew immediately that I wanted to hear more from that band, but they were like a unicorn. I couldn't find out anything about them and that was the only time I saw that video. It was at that same time that Quiet Riot came out with their version of that song and crowded you all out of the limelight. I kept asking all my friends if they had heard of Mama's Boys and your version of that song and they all kept looking at me like I was obviously mistaken.
Jump to 1989 - I was searching the bargain bin at a local record store and found "Growing up the Hard Way" for 99 cents. I hadn't forgotten about your elusive band and was excited to hear what was on the recording. Man, was I blown away! Every song was fantastic! I loved the slide in "Bedroom Eyes" and your version of "Higher Ground" was better than the original, in my opinion. However, "Blacklisted" set the bar for me as one of the greatest 80's rock songs ever recorded. I listened to that album over and over. In fact, I was so enamored with it that I went back to that store and bought the other three copies they had. I saved one back for myself, as a backup, and gave the other two away to friends in order to spread the McManus gospel.
That album renewed my interest in your group and I kept a vigil for years to find more recordings. A fraternity brother gave me a copy of "Turn it Up" for Christmas one year, but that was all I could find. My sister gave me the CD version of "Growing up the Hard Way" for my birthday many years later, so at least I could now listen to it in my car.
It's now 2025 and I have "Growing up the Hard Way" on a thumb drive so I can listen to it in my new truck. I did that just the other day, cranked to 11, and it still holds up. "Blacklisted" is still one of my favorite songs of all time and that's after hearing for the first time almost 40 years ago.
I don't think you all got the attention you should have here in the USA, but just know that I still enjoy your music from way back when. Keep rockin!
Hi. Is there anywhere I can purchase merchandise online please. Would like a hoodie. Thanks
I’m looking forward to seeing Pat at the Winter Storm festival but noticed that the date on Pat’s website (Friday 28th November) is different from on the official festival website (Saturday 29th November) . Which one is correct?
My wife and I got married to the instrumental "The Awakening" by Celtus, for me one of the most beautiful melodies ever written. I presume it was written by both Pat and John and I have tried to get the sheet music without any luck because I enjoy playing guitar and other instrunents. We will be going to the gig in La Zenia in late September 2025,can't believe Pat's band are playing here. We have only ever seen Pat with Celtus in the past but we are really looking forward to seeing his band in September.

Hello Pat I saw your fantastic show on April 19th, 2024 at Earth Music in Wetter. You and your band are wonderful musicians. My wife and I really enjoyed the concert and are looking forward to a repeat. What is the name of the great instrumental song after the short break? Wish you and your team all the best Markus
Hi Pat
Just to say thanks for another amazing concert at Kinross last night. Brought wife and she was on a high afterwards couldn't believe you and the band were so good particularly when she thinks most of my music collection is shite.
Yep I'm the bearded longhaired ginger guy.
What a complete trio you are, Great music with so much fun.
Still got my original VHS tape from when you were on Cue the Music.
Backstage Kinross 21/03/2024
Intimate gig at this small venue in Kinross, Scotland
As a lifelong Rory Gallagher fan I first saw you guys in Ballyshannon 2004 at the Dorian’s Hotel and was immediately hooked. Last nights gig was amazing and hope to see you again. Rock On Pat
Saw you at the Billesley on St Patrick's day and you were amazing 💚💚
Was at the concert in Drogheda. I probably was one of the oldest 75 but really enjoid. Brandon and Chris are good friends of mine. Please say hallo to them when you play again. Sometimes your guitar reminded me of Roy Buchanon
All the best
Kh
Pat, I just wanted to say a huge thanks for all that you, John and Tommy mean to me all these years later.
From trying to record "Needle in the groove" on a crappy handheld tape recorder when it was on MtUSA to having a huge argument with my mother when she wouldn't let me go see you guys when you played in Tralee...and all the while I listened to nothing but "Power and passion" on repeat.
I'm making it my mission to see you live this year so I can right the wrong from about 40 years ago!
Wishing you nothing but the absolute best, man
Cheers
Larry
