Hello Pat , we havent met for over 40 years when you andyoue wonderful brothers played a lunchtime concert in the Athlone RTC about late 1978,79 period . Anyway ye were brillant so we hired ye again for a proper concert and poor Tommy was now sick . By coincidence for Ragweek id hired a band called Jimmy Slevin and Firefly . He played a Flying V which you know well . I have to search the house for my copy of Official Bootleg which i bought from you and was autographed by all . Ill send you a scan of it when i get it . Take care and i wont miss your next concert in the area , Take care
Absolute privilege to see Pat in action again at The Empire last night. A wonderful talent that always delivers. Brilliant to see.
A Roryfest highlight for us every year is when you bring on a youngster to display their talent on the big stage. The lassie last year was phenomenal. I’m still under her spell! Thank you for everything you do. It doesn’t go unnoticed.
We attend The Diamond Xmas bash every year with you. And Roryfest every year. Always great, but last night at Ahoghill was outstanding. Best ever!! The set list was outstanding. Thank you, and your band members, for always keeping it fresh. We love you guys.
I want to say thanks to Pat for giving my brother Jonners a power and passion tour tshirt. Its now one of my prize possessions.
It was great to see you on Saturday at Winterstorm . Fantastic performance as usual. We’re looking forward to Ballyshannon next year- and hopefully Backstage in Kinross as well!
Great night in Troon at Winterstorm..you guys rocked
I first heard Mama's Boys when I saw the video of "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" on MTV in 1984 at 3 in the morning. I knew immediately that I wanted to hear more from that band, but they were like a unicorn. I couldn't find out anything about them and that was the only time I saw that video. It was at that same time that Quiet Riot came out with their version of that song and crowded you all out of the limelight. I kept asking all my friends if they had heard of Mama's Boys and your version of that song and they all kept looking at me like I was obviously mistaken.
Jump to 1989 - I was searching the bargain bin at a local record store and found "Growing up the Hard Way" for 99 cents. I hadn't forgotten about your elusive band and was excited to hear what was on the recording. Man, was I blown away! Every song was fantastic! I loved the slide in "Bedroom Eyes" and your version of "Higher Ground" was better than the original, in my opinion. However, "Blacklisted" set the bar for me as one of the greatest 80's rock songs ever recorded. I listened to that album over and over. In fact, I was so enamored with it that I went back to that store and bought the other three copies they had. I saved one back for myself, as a backup, and gave the other two away to friends in order to spread the McManus gospel.
That album renewed my interest in your group and I kept a vigil for years to find more recordings. A fraternity brother gave me a copy of "Turn it Up" for Christmas one year, but that was all I could find. My sister gave me the CD version of "Growing up the Hard Way" for my birthday many years later, so at least I could now listen to it in my car.
It's now 2025 and I have "Growing up the Hard Way" on a thumb drive so I can listen to it in my new truck. I did that just the other day, cranked to 11, and it still holds up. "Blacklisted" is still one of my favorite songs of all time and that's after hearing for the first time almost 40 years ago.
I don't think you all got the attention you should have here in the USA, but just know that I still enjoy your music from way back when. Keep rockin!
Hi. Is there anywhere I can purchase merchandise online please. Would like a hoodie. Thanks
I’m looking forward to seeing Pat at the Winter Storm festival but noticed that the date on Pat’s website (Friday 28th November) is different from on the official festival website (Saturday 29th November) . Which one is correct?
My wife and I got married to the instrumental "The Awakening" by Celtus, for me one of the most beautiful melodies ever written. I presume it was written by both Pat and John and I have tried to get the sheet music without any luck because I enjoy playing guitar and other instrunents. We will be going to the gig in La Zenia in late September 2025,can't believe Pat's band are playing here. We have only ever seen Pat with Celtus in the past but we are really looking forward to seeing his band in September.
Wow it's over 30yrs since I first saw Pat play with Tommy n John And I was hooked seen pat play 11 times in a year .I first became a fan back in 1983 When I first heard my brother play Midnight promises on his stereo And I've been a fan ever since .Me n my friend came down to London from Coventry to see pat play at the Marquee in 1991 and I had the pleasure of staying in the tour bus thanks to Tommy who had helped me and my fiend out as we had nowhere to stay .Then I saw Pat in 2018 at the st Patricks club Leamington and still love the music Pat your amazing keep rocking and hope to see you again soon 🎸❤️ Kelly Frame.
